At Fox Cabins, we’re used to finding creative solutions for getting our builds to their final destination — but this one was a little different. Recently, we partnered with the team at Kahu NZ to deliver two of our custom-built cabins to Kawau Island using their iconic Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter. Yes, really.

Kawau Island’s unique geography means road access simply isn’t an option, so when the client needed two quality cabins placed on site, a helicopter lift was the only way to make it happen. Kahu NZ’s Black Hawk is purpose-built for exactly this kind of heavy lift work, capable of carrying up to 3.6 tonnes of cargo externally — more than enough to get our builds safely across the water and precisely into position.

What made this job extra special was that the whole operation was filmed for an upcoming episode of Moving Houses — New Zealand’s popular TV show dedicated to the art of relocating structures. We can’t give too much away just yet, but let’s just say it makes for pretty compelling viewing. Keep an eye out when the episode airs in July — you won’t want to miss it.
